This Classic Chicken Salad with Pecans is ready in a snap when using rotisserie chicken and a few quick chops of grapes, sweet onion, and celery.

chicken: For quick and easy, rotisserie chicken is the way to go. leftover chicken or turkey is a great option. I freeze deboned leftover turkey or chicken and use it for recipes just like this one.

Pecans: Toasted pecans lend an additional texture and taste that is quite delicious. 

Red Grapes: Halved seedless grapes add a touch of sweetness

Sweet Onions:  Sweet onions contain extra sugar, but red onions can be used in a pinch.

Celery:  The perfect vegetable for crunchiness in any salad.

Mayonnaise and sour cream:  Mayo and sour cream, both provide the creamy base for this yummy chicken salad.

How To Make Classic Chicken Salad with Pecans
  • Shred rotisserie chicken into small bite-size pieces. Set aside.
  • Chop celery into small pieces and add to a large bowl.
  • Add the pecans, diced onions, and grapes. Add the mayonnaise and sour cream.
  • Add chicken to the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Mix until well combined. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  •  Refrigerate until ready to serve. Salad tastes even better when it has time to sit in the refrigerator for a few hours.

  • 1 rotisserie chicken (approx. 3 1/2 cups) shred into small bite-size pieces
  • 1/2 cup celery, diced
  • 1/2 cup pecans, toasted and chopped (Note)
  • 1 cup red grapes, cut in half
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper and salt
  • 1/2 cup sweet onion, diced 
Instructions:
  1. Shred rotisserie chicken into small bite-size pieces. Set aside.
  2. Chop celery into small pieces and add to a large bowl. Add the pecans, diced onions, and grapes. Add the mayonnaise and sour cream.
  3. Add chicken to the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl.
